| The library's two bookmobiles service schools, day cares, retirement centers and a variety of public stops. Service is provided to patrons Monday-Thursday, on a two week rotation schedule. Discovery visits most stops within the city limits, and Adventure visits most of the stops outside the city limits. Each bookmobile has a wheelchair lift to make it easily accessible to patrons who are unable to use the steps. The bookmobile collections consist of over 44,000 items, including popular books, videos, cassettes, compact discs, magazines, CD-ROMS, and DVDs. Large print books are also available. Approximately 3,500 items are on each bookmobile. Most items not found on the bookmobile may be requested. All materials may be checked out for 28 days on the bookmobile. If a bookmobile visit is canceled because of weather conditions or mechanical problems, items returned on the next visit will not be charged late fines. Cancellations are announced on local radio stations WWKI and WIOU as soon as possible.
