The Elwood Haynes Museum was developed as a memorial to the life and accomplishments of Elwood Haynes, who built the first successful commercial automobile in America. Mr. Haynes also invented stainless steel and Haynes Stellite, an alloy of extreme durability used today in the most strategic areas of science and industry. The main floor of the museum display depicts the life and achievements of Elwood Haynes. The second floor displays describe Kokomo Industries, both past and present.
