Artie Shaw Orchestra
Tuesday, September 28th, 2004 at 7:30 p.m.
Some of the most popular all-time hits, such as Stardust, Begin the Beguine, Moonglow, and Carioca, were recorded by Artie Shaw in the 1930's, 1940's, and 1950's. Today, the Artie Shaw Orchestra continues to be one of the best of the remaining big bands from the swing era. The band has a unique formula for pleasing the full spectrum of audiences from big band lovers to jazz and swing fans alike. Artie's original band featured many outstanding jazz soloists, and this band carries on that tradition. Many of the members are alumni of the bands of Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Woody Herman, the Airmen of Notes, and even the Boston Pops.
