Kiwanis International was founded in 1915. There are 9,000 clubs in more than 80 countries, with a total membership of almost 300,000.
Kiwanis offers an opportunity for personal involvement in the leadership and improvement of the community, the nation, and the world.
Through meetings and activities, Kiwanis members are offered: an insight into issues affecting the local and global community, an opportunity to expand business and professional networking, and an arena in which to develop and use leadership skills.
Club meetings offer an atmosphere of fun, learning, and fellowship, while providing a welcome change in the daily routine.
Kiwanis is a service organization. The Historic Club helps to support many groups throughout the community.
Through our Youth Services Committee, we support such activities as: The Howard County Girl's Basketball Banquet, YMCA youth soccer program, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Kokomo Rescue Mission, and Riley Hospital. Through our District and State Kiwanis organizations, we support special fund raising projects for Riley Children's Hospital and the "Young Children: Priority One" international program to eliminate iodine deficiency (which causes mental retardation.)
