The Wildcat Creek Watershed Alliance is a watershed-based organization that includes stakeholders from the Wildcat Creek Watershed. The watershed stretches across portions of Tippecanoe, Carroll, Clinton, Howard, Tipton, Grant, and Madison Counties and contains within its 812 square miles the cities of Kokomo, Frankfort, and sections of Lafayette. Watershed stakeholders are represented by:
- Local City, Town, and County Governments
- Water Providers
- Utilities
- Industry
- Agriculture
- Environmental Protection Groups
- and Citizens living within the Wildcat Creek Watershed
The Wildcat Creek Watershed has diverse land uses, several urban centers, extensive rural and agricultural areas, and the presence of streams that fail to meet the state's water quality standards. To address these concerns and failure to meet quality standards, the Alliance, with the help of the watershed coordinator, will implement two 14 digit sub-watershed plans and water quality related programs to improve the quality of life in the Wildcat Creek Watershed. This effort will be funded for the next two years from July 1st, 2001 to June 30th, 2003 by a Section 319 grant from the US EPA and IDEM via the Indiana Association of Soil & Water Conservation Districts (IASWCD) on behalf of the Wildcat Creek Watershed Network Board. The Wildcat Creek Watershed Network Board recently decided to formally organize as the Wildcat Creek Watershed Alliance.
