In recognition of the importance of art to the quality of life in the community, the Kokomo-Howard County Public Library has had a long involvement with art and artists. Through careful selection since 1905, the library now owns over 120 pieces by Hoosier artists. The collection has both depth and breadth; including works by some of the most prominent early and contemporary Hoosier artists. The library's collection is regarded as one of Indiana's finest collections of Hoosier art. A wide variety of media and subjects are exhibited each month along the upper level corridors. Most exhibits are created from the library's own collection. Also displayed are the annual Hoosier Salon exhibit, the Kokomo Art Association's Spring Show and occasional exhibits by contemporary artists.
