BSA Mission Statement The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical choices in their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.This mission is accomplished by focusing on Scouting's three Aims: Character Development, Citizenship Training, and Mental, Physical, and Moral Fitness. These Aims are reached through Scouting's eight methods:
- Ideals (the Scout Oath, Law, Motto, and Slogan)
- Patrol Method (identity and self-leadership)
- Outdoors Program (challenge, excitement, and fun)
- Advancement (recognition, motivation, goal-setting)
- Association with Adults (positive role models)
- Personal Growth (responsibility and maturity)
- Leadership Development (planning, organization, decision making)
- Uniform (identity, tradition, equality)
