The Kokomo Piecemakers Quilt Guild (KPQG) was formed in 1993 by a group of quilters who wanted to share their love of quilting. The purpose of the Guild is to promote education, preservation, shows, and exhibits in the field of quilt making.

Meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday of each month except December at the Morning Star Church, 2900 E. Markland Avenue, Kokomo, at 7:00 p.m. Everyone who enjoys quilting is welcome. Interested quilters may attend two meetings as a guest before becoming a member. Membership is $20 per year.

Monthly meetings include guild business, a program related to quilt making, and "show and tell" by members. Programs have been presented by owners of area quilt shops, by members who share their expertise, and by outside speakers who are authorities on a variety of quilt related topics. Outside speakers have included Brenda Papadakis, Ruth Ann Fennell, Mary Kay Horn and Anne Lockard. Speakers for the 2005 year will include Kay Kingsley and Patricia Knoechel. The guild will also sponsor a 2005 quilt "challenge". A "challenge" fabric was selected and members who wish will enter quilts using this fabric in some manner into one of six judged-categories.

KPQG offers a yearly community service project. Members of the Guild have made children's quilts to donate to local health care and children's organizations as well as bereavement quilts for the hospitals. The 2005 KPQG service project will make and donate quilts to Open Arms—the homeless women's and children's shelter in Kokomo.

Members also participate in KPQG sponsored "birthday bonanza"--a block exchange, fabric exchanges, and workshops. Bi-monthly workshops have included making mystery quilts, learning to machine quilt, appliqué techniques, and WIP (works in progress) workshops. 2005 workshops will include assembling the Open Arms quilt donations and constructing our "birthday bonanza" quilts.
