Sigma Eta Sorority was organized in Fort Wayne, Indiana, in 1921 by a group of musicians from the European School of Music. George and Gaston Bailhe, who operated the school, wanted to form an organization which would foster a love of music and an appreciation of the arts in the community. Their purpose was to encourage young talent. In Kokomo, Rho Chapter sponsors the Marybelle Harn Moore Scholarship for music majors. It also sponsors Arion Awards for high school band and choir students. Membership is open to those sixteen and older, who possess interest in the arts and the ability to perform publicly.
